As well as signing up for the Elsie challenge on UKS and the A - Z Art Journal i've just signed up to do this as well! I'm determined that 2008 actually means i do a lot more scrapping this year so i figured the 3 above items are going to be a good way of doing so :) I also signed up to a '2008 targets' thread to say that my target is going to be at least 1 layout a week so here's hoping i can do it!
The 365 days challenge looks really good - the only think i'm worried about is the self-portrait photos! Looking forward to starting that on Tuesday though, which will also be the first day of the official stash diet! I've had a practise run and not bought anything since yesterday evening! Lol!!! No more stash buying for me until i have enough money to buy a Cricut Expression and at least 5 cartridges - that'll be this time next year then!
But i have been busy, honest! Christmas was quiet but great - everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and i think everyone liked their presents! I decided to treat myself to some more Cuttlebug alphas so i bought a couple from the US - one of them only cost me $15! I got some fab presents, including £50 worth of book tokens so i shall be able to go on a bit of a spending spree in the bookshop :)
Not much going on just now so i'll leave you with a spectacular photo of Grandad in full festive mode!
and i finally remembered to post! It's been pretty busy here - my parents arrived on Saturday (4 hours late as there was an unplanned change of trains due to vandalism!) and we were out with them yesterday for lunch. My great-uncle Ken and my cousin came up to join us as well so it was a real family meal and fab to see them again!
Am definitely doing the stash diet as i splurged and bought a Cuttlebug! And a load of dies, embossing folders & an alpha or three! The embossing folders work perfectly and i can't wait to use all the gorgeous ones i've bought/ordered after Christmas - no scrapping until after my parents have gone home as dh hates being left alone with them!
Off to wrap a couple of presents that i just found in the cupboard - i had completely forgotten about them but that's what i get for putting them away in a cupboard i rarely use! See you on Christmas Day - or maybe a day or 2 afterwards :)
Yesterday was dh's turn to be bah humbug, today it's mine! Mainly because i got promised the item in the first photo as my Christmas present this year and actually received what's in the second picture :(
DH said i could have it early as he knew my lovely pink 'nothing wrong with it' phone was unreliable! I just knew i was going to end up with a phone..................
So now i have a really good reason to stick to the stash diet, and at least i'm not alone as over on UKS there's quite a few of us all admitting to owning slightly too much stash!!! Ooops! No more stash buying for me until i've a) actually done a lot more scrapping than i have this year and b) i've saved enough to buy a Cricut Expression.........
3 and 1/2 days til my parents get here - have done loads of cleaning today and nipped out to buy a couple of throws for the armchairs, they don't match the one on the sofa but never mind!
until my parents get here!!! I can't believe it's come round so quickly and of course the house is a pigsty! So much needs doing and i can only do so much, same as Grandad - dh is being a miserable *** and has gone into 'bah humbug' mode.....
Totally behind with everything including my Christmas journal - it might help if i actually stepped away from the laptop for more than thirty minutes at a time! Will need to sit and finish off my circle journal too, otherwise it's going to get caught up in the Christmas post. I did manage something productive today though - i got baking and made twenty-four scrummy cinnamon cupcakes & twelve vanilla muffins. I'm hoping they'll keep Grandad away from the mince pies i'm going to make on Tuesday - i can hope anyway...........
It's almost finished on one side - have had to leave off the top shelf because dh and Grandad refuse to take down their collection of planes which have been hanging since dh was about 4 years old. I'm hoping that we can move the planes towards the middle of the room - part of the deal of getting the room turned into my scrap room was that the planes got left alone! - and can get the extra shelf up after Christmas. The shelves for the other wall will also be going up after Christmas - they would have gone up over the next few days so the shelving was done and dusted but they messed up the order & didn't bring enough of the extra wide wood that i ordered. Anyway, a couple of pics - Grandad in full posing mood and an expanse of empty shelving!
The television that you just might be able to see in one of the pics is getting lifted out over the weekend - it's that heavy it takes two to lift it and it'll need to be done in daylight! Next up will be to get the table up and to cut the fabric i bought to cover it cut to fit round it. It's that sort of fake leathery stuff which has lovely cushioning underneath making it perfect for stamping on! I can't clutter the table up though as it's doing dining table duties over Christmas when my parents are here which means it needs to be clear to get lifted through to the dining room. Next step is to start organising stash and that half of the room. It's been so long in actually getting finished that i'm having trouble comprehending i can get in there and start playing very, very soon!
Ooooh, and guess what i found yesterday!!! Anyone who knows me well knows my obsession with the Moomins - well, i discovered yesterday that you can buy cake tins and cookie cutters! How did i not know this? The sad news is i cannot work out where i can buy them as every site i've looked at seems to be in either Finnish or Swedish :( I shall have to dig out my collection of soft toy Moomins so they can sit on a shelf in my scrap room! And if anybody sees anything Moomin let me know!
Didn't realise i hadn't posted since the 6th! Been a busy bee here but not really achieved anything - am behind on my Christmas journal but i'm hoping i'll get caught up over the next couple of days.
The main thing that's been happening is this -
Yep, that's wood - actually attached to the wall, looks like some of my shelving will be up in time for Christmas! That's Grandad working away in the pics - he didn't realise i had my camera as he's not too keen on being photographed! In the second pic there's a big patch of sunshine - this room has a huge window and gets lots of natural light. I cannot wait to get in there and start scrapping!
I'm behind with everything! Was planning on catching up tonight but i've flashing lights which means headaches are coming....
I'm a day behind with Journal your Christmas but i'm hoping i can catch up tomorrow. Might not happen as dh has announced at the last minute (ie. 20 minutes ago!) he's got a day off which means rethinking tomorrow's dinner menu too. I hate people who won't eat vegetables - never used to bother me but now we do 95% of the cooking from scratch it's so bl**dy difficult to find dishes he'll eat. Grrrrrr!!!!!!
To cheer myself up i bought stamps, to be precise i bought Nellie, Maggie & Hamish from Funky Kits - all brand new releases apart from the one Nellie i missed from last time so i shall have them to look forward to next week :)
I might not have any pics to show (no decent light again!) but i've now blogged 9 days in a row so i'm obviously doing something right! Today's JyC prompt was fab and quite easy for me - in other words i had an idea almost straight away instead of 10 hours later. It was aided by the arrival of this gorgeous, delicious kit which matches my very eclectic color scheme perfectly and will do most of the rest of my pages that will need a bit of ribbon!
In other mundane news, i have a wheelchair - just a hire one until until the Wheelchair Center sort out a permanent one for me - but it means i'll be able to get out & about. Also ordered all of dh's presents (except one) online so now i just need to do Mum, Dad, Little Sis & Grandad - suggestions welcome! Last but not least, if anyone knows where i can buy pale pink/lilac/silver Christmas decorations i would love to know :)
It's been a miserable day here, torrential rain and oh so dark! Not conducive to taking photos and my lovely scanner will not scan yesterdays journal entry :( I've had a better day today with prompt number 2 - i spent hours cutting out paper snowflakes and my pages kind of turned out how i wanted them to! They're still drying though as i used some of my fab new colour stickles to a bit of sparkle - will finish off quickly in the morning before prompt 3 arrives in my inbox. Keep your fingers crossed for better light so i can get some pics to show you!
Nothing to report here - got the first Journal your Christmas prompt but i've done mine 3 times now and still not happy with it. Wish i had more confidence in what i do............ No pics as it's been awful light here all day, and then it was dark!
